The theory of everything and nothing / Holger Bech Nielsen

04. June 2025

Will we ever find a theory for everything? Was there nothing before the Big Bang? Does it even make sense to talk about an ‘everything’ or ‘nothing’ in our infinite universe? We may find the answers when we join Holger Bech Nielsen and Jonas Kuld Rathje as they take us into a world of wonder.

Charismatic high-energy physicist Holger Bech Nielsen and editor-in-chief Jonas Kuld Rathje are back on stage in the Planetarium Dome for a unique lecture. In a fusion of their two critically acclaimed books, ‘Teorien om alt’ and ‘Teorien om ingenting’, they unfold the quest for a definitive answer to both everything and nothing.

Holger has dedicated his career to finding the answer to perhaps the ultimate question: is there a theory for everything? An almost divine formula that can bind the laws of physics together across time and space?

According to Holger himself, he may be closer to an answer than you might think. But to find the answer to everything, you also need to understand ‘nothing’. Because there is more ‘nothing’ than anything else in our universe. The matter that we and our surroundings are made of takes up very little space in our infinite universe, where mysterious elements like dark matter and dark energy dominate.

In Planetarium, we continue the search for the ultimate theory as we join Holger and Jonas in exploring Holger's lifelong work - work that continues to this day, and the theories are still evolving rapidly.

From dark matter and the void of the universe to quantum mechanics and pink elephants, we can look forward to being initiated into everything from dark matter to quantum mechanics and pink elephants when the author duo takes the stage in the iconic Planetarium Dome.

After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to sign the books ‘Teorien om alt’ and ‘Teorien om ingenting'.
