Northern and southern lights have been a source of wonder for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Today we know the explanation for this beautiful natural phenomenon, but that doesn't make the experience any less amazing - quite the opposite.

What is the Northern Lights and how do they occur? Where on Earth is the best place to experience it? When is the best time to see it? And are there auroras on other planets too?

In Planetarium's Dome, you'll embark on a customised journey with our skilled educators as guides. We'll take you to the best places to see the beautiful Northern Lights and give you expert guidance on how to experience the phenomenon for yourself.

Journey through the Earth's marvellous magnetic field and past the Sun, where we take a closer look at huge solar flares. We'll also make our way past distant planets to see if the Northern Lights are also found here.

It will be a magical journey. Under the planetarium dome, we create 8K visualisations of cloudless skies, stunning landscapes, solar flares and of course the Northern Lights - all based on data from satellites and telescopes around the world.
