Information
In this tour, one of our educators will guide your group through the exhibition Cosmos. Along the way, we tell the story of how we all quite literally come from space – our bodies and everything around us are made of stardust and remnants from the Big Bang.
The tour encourages reflection and dialogue and is adapted to the students’ age group and learning objectives to ensure you get the most out of your visit.
With younger students, we talk about how the water in our bodies originates from elements formed during the Big Bang and inside stars. They learn that the iron in our blood was created in stars, and that zinc from supernovae makes it possible for us to taste and smell.
With students in the intermediate years, we reflect on how life on Earth depends on elements formed over billions of years in the universe – and explore the possibility of life beyond our planet. We look at different types of stars and how their internal processes contributed to making the building blocks of life.
With older students, we delve into the formation, structure, and evolution of the universe. We examine how atoms are created, and how fusion in stars and supernovae has shaped the universe we know today – including our own bodies and the life we know on Earth.
The tour is combined with a film of your choice in the Planetarium Dome.
